$1500 College Scholarship Announcement
For Graduating High School Seniors in Pitt County Academic Year 2023-2024
Application Period November 2, 2023 to March 8, 2024
Congratulations from the Greenville Noon Rotary Club to our graduating high school seniors! If you are pursuing formal education beyond high school and have financial needs for this purpose, Greenville Noon Rotary Club welcomes the opportunity to help finance this future goal.
Rotary International is an international service organization whose purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world. Benefits include effecting change in the community, advancing business and professional contacts, developing leadership skills, and gaining an understanding of and impacting international humanitarian issues. Rotary’s Areas of Focus include education, child & maternal health, disease prevention, economic & community development, peace & conflict resolution, environmental protection, and water & sanitation. Locally, we serve our community in keeping with Rotary International’s Areas of Focus. Among our service projects are these scholarships, river clean-up, providing food and school supplies, blood drives, vaccination support, and grant funding for local non-profit organizations.

Rotary is a non-political and non-religious organization, open to all. The organization has over 35,000 member clubs worldwide with a membership of 1.2 million individuals, known as “Rotarians.” The original club was founded in 1905 in Chicago and a local Greenville Rotary Club was founded in 1918, making it one of the oldest chapters. There are currently five clubs in Pitt County: Greenville Rotary, Greenville Noon Rotary, Greenville Morning Rotary, and clubs in Ayden, and Farmville. This scholarship is funded by Greenville Noon Rotary through local community fundraising activities. We are offering 3 scholarships of $1500 each for 2024. The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the awardee’s college or trade school.
Children, stepchildren, legal dependents, or grandchildren of Rotarians are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

- Financial Need. You can support your need for scholarship funding by submitting the cover page of your FAFSA, or Student Aid Report that provides your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) Score. If you are unable or wish not to provide this documentation, you may tell us how much you and your family can contribute (in US dollars, such as $2,500) toward your college expenses for your freshman year of study.
- You will be asked to provide a brief (no more than 100 words) explanation of the circumstances that impact your financial need.
- Academic Achievement. We require all applicants to have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.0 documented by a high school transcript.
- Service/Leadership. We would like to learn of your experiences in effecting change within your community or school, or gaining an understanding of and having an impact
on local, national, or international humanitarian issues - Video Presentation. You’ll do a short (3-5 minute) video presentation. The format is flexible and we hope will bring out the best in your personal style and choice of
communication. We would like to know your thoughts on the meaning and application of our motto, Service Above Self, to your past, present, or future endeavors. - One letter of recommendation is required for this scholarship from either:
- a school counselor
- a school teacher
- or a coordinator of a volunteer program or service organization in which you
were involved
- We welcome additional information on extraordinary factors in your life that have made it difficult to be successful such as a life-threatening illness or injury for you or a
parent, death of an immediate family member, or full-time paid employment necessary for family support.
The March 8, 2024 deadline for the application is firm. Incomplete applications or applications missing information will not be considered.
